 Debate Winners Oct 2019 
Congratulations to our students who represented ESMS at the October 5th Urban Debate League Tournament. They did amazing, with most of the students getting either speaker or team awards. ESMS also received a 1st place team award at the end of the debate.

 6th Grade Egg Drop 2019 Congratulations to the dozen plus 6th grade teams that competed in the annual ESMS 6th Grade Egg Drop.

Thanks to 6th grader ingenuity and creative design (utilizing materials such as foam/sponge/balloon), we are happy to report that  several eggs survived the 5 story drop.

Congratulations and Bravo! to all the students who participated in this year's ESMS/Manhattan Youth Spring Showcase!  You were awesome!   It was an evening filled with talent, entertainment and fun.

Origami Elective Spring 2019

   
 

The spring 2019 ESMS origami elective has collectively created another piece of artwork, which is gifted to the school, and now hung in the main office.

The students made origami paper stars, surrounding a Van Gogh Starry night canvas made with “5D diamond” resin beads.

The Marx Brothers Historic Committee at ESMS
created this map so that people can take a self guided tour of the historic locations connected to the lives and careers of the Marx Brothers, America's greatest comic family.  Enjoy!

They beat some stellar competitors and were named won Best New School at the recent MathCounts Manhattan 2019 Competition.

ESMS Students Speak at Press Conference for New Housing Unit on our Block

"Affordable housing helps the community and aids families during hard times," said East Side Middle School student Jack Zimmerman. "It is a dream to many people and we support that dream."

Women in Need, a non-profit agency that houses and provides social services for families, will soon offer safe apartments to single women with children until they can get back on their feet. This initiative has been supported by the ESMS Student Council, whose members joined community leaders in announcing the new housing.
